You may need to understand basic concepts such as virtualization, and by extension the Link window, as well as how to navigate the
vmap
, before you can understand this guide.Additionally, this guide will be assuming you use Superscan rather than Monoscan. (Monoscan can be used, just replace
superscan
withmonoscan
when writing commands.)
Welcome. In this guide, we will be teaching you how to solve ‘DNA bugs’/'DNA problems' that can occur during virtualization.
These DNA problems can have a limited number of effects on how you handle a given situation. As well as fixing them, you will be given an understanding of what they do. You will know if a Lyokowarrior (LW) has a DNA problem when their comcard has a ‘Deadly Devirt’ status on it.
Having this status, as it's name implies, means they cannot be devirted without sending them to the Frontier. This means whether they're devirtualized by you, or a monster.
So, to begin with:
First, you will want to identify what DNA problem you're dealing with. You can do this by having a 'Deadly Devirt' LW enter a tower, and press ‘Analyze DNA’ on their comcard. (The command interfaces you use for each LW)
Next when dealing with a DNA problem, you will need to transmit power to a tower and disable it's inhibitors, just like you would do in >this< section of the guide on Diary Deciphering. (For full details on energy transmission, >here<) Just change the forest
and 1
to a different sector or different number if you'd like, as long as you go to that tower in that sector. Either way, after you've done that, the superscan
window will open, highlighting the tower you're transmitting to.
As a reminder, these are the steps you should have just performed:
transm
opened, select the tower you wanted to power with transm
's commands, transm.exe
superscan.inhib
after superscan has locked onto the towercrypto
opened, crypto.inhib
With all that out of the way, you can now start solving DNA problems, listed below. You can use the navigation to the top left of this page to jump directly to each problem if you'd like.
Now be on alert: Activating a tower will attract XANA's attention, and it will send monsters - usually related to the sector they're commonly found in - to attack you, so while your Lyokowarriors' DNA is being fixed, you will need to have the others guard the tower.
DNA Fusion results when two occupants (persons or otherwise) are virtualized together in one scanner. In the context of IFSCL at current, this happens when Odd's dog, Kiwi, hops into the scanner with an LW.
In the Link window, the affected LW will have a purple progress bar for “DNA Corruption” that once ticks up to 100%, will immediately send them to the Frontier.
Fixing this means putting the affected LW into the uninhibited tower you activated earlier and pressing “Repair DNA” on their comcard.
It will take some time but you will know if you did it right when the green DNA fusion bar shows up and starts progressing. Once complete you will get a confirmation window showing they are safe to devirt now.
Mixed DNA happens when the scanning of two LW gets mixed up (Like other DNA problems, this is completely random chance based on probabilities set via custom game settings)
Unlike DNA Fusion, nothing will happen to them after any amount of time, but it does mean you cannot devirt them safely until this issue is fixed.
Put both matching affected lyokowarriors into the uninhibited activated tower and hit ‘Repair DNA’ on both their comcards.
Confused DNA is similar to Mixed DNA.
The only difference being gameplay-wise, this will have an affect on battle. During the beginning of a fight, they will be unable to attack for 1 turn.
Second verse, same as the first; Throw both matching affected lyokowarriors into the uninhibited activated tower and hit ‘Repair DNA’ on both their comcards.
Eventually to be seen in story mode but usually only enabled via custom game settings, a ‘Thief Scyphozoa’ can spawn, and upon capturing an LW, a window will pop-up with a number ticking down.
Once it ticks all the way down to 0, a DNA sequence of the LW will be stolen.
To tackle this, you will need to head to Carthage / Sector 5. Details for that can be found in >this< guide.
After entering Carthage, head to the Bridge, and have an LW (can be any of them, including the one affected) use the interface, and press ‘Retrieve Data’. It won't take long for this sequence to complete, and when it does, the affected LW will lose their deadly devirt status. Note: Aelita can retrieve data faster than anyone. Monsters like creepers and mantas can attack you while getting the data so it's recommended to have atleast 1 more LW to guard them.
Lyoko Warrior Lost to Frontier
Yep, that's all there is to it. Very simple problem to fix in any case. However, it can definitely have dire consequences when it happens at the wrong time.
(Enjoy fixing a DNA problem in the last 3 minutes left until a meteor hits France.)
Though there is definitely some more advanced things you could do, but they're not completely required.
In the case of DNA Fusion, it is possible to ‘stall’ this process if you don't have the time right away to fix the DNA problem.
By going into a tower - Which can be unactivated - and hitting ‘Exchange DNA’ on the comcards of an affected Lyokowarrior and an unaffected Lyokowarrior, you can move the fused DNA onto the other unaffected one, resetting the process and reducing DNA Corruption to 0%. (Though now the problem is swapped; You still have to repair it on the other previously unaffected Lyokowarrior.)
This is very handy if the Lyokowarrior with DNA Fusion has progressed to a point (like 80% DNA Corruption) that it can't be fixed in time with DNA Repair, as DNA Exchange is much faster.
It is also possible to do DNA exchange for the Stolen/Missing DNA sequence. This would come in handy if Aelita had her DNA stolen (yet again) and you needed to get her to safety.
Due to how DNA exchange works, you cannot do this with Lyokowarriors who have Mixed or Confused DNA. That problem has to be solved with the two Lyokowarriors involved.
Additionally, Scyphozoas XANAifying a Lyokowarrior with a 'Deadly Devirt' will have their DNA problem fixed, so if you don't mind doing a risky play, you can use this to your advantage to get a somewhat fast fix.
And as mentioned previously in the Prepwork, you can do these DNA fixes with any tower on any sector. That includes the tower in Sector 5, and even Replikas. The tower in Sector 5/Carthage is also much more easier to fix DNA problems in since XANA can only spawn in a set of 3 Creepers to attack. These are very weak enemies that can easily be taken down with as few as 2 (or even 1) Lyokowarrior as they do a very small amount of damage.
Asides from just lowering probability of the DNA errors in the custom settings, you can also avoid things like Mixed DNA and Confused DNA by virtualizing the lyokowarriors one at a time.
The reason that works is because most DNA problems happen during the Scanning phase of the virtualization process. And while you would have to wait, you can also use diffvirt
to avoid DNA problems too (This may be subject to change in the future)
